Anaesthetic Department Coordinator/ Deputy Admin Lead for Anaesthetics, Main Theatres and Day Surgery Unit, Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust October 2003-to present day

Based in the largest department in the hospital and providing on going administrative support for over fifty anaesthetists my role is to work hand in hand with the Head of Service for Anaesthesia and the current Rota Writer.

The compilation of a rota to cover 150 operation sessions per week alongside a Senior Consultant to include two weekly deadlines before final distribution each Friday.

Ensuring that all Theatres within the Main Theatre Department, Burns Unit, Plastic Surgery Theatre and Day Surgery Unit have anaesthetic cover regardless of sickness levels within the Anaesthetic Department in order to prevent cancellation of patients and lists which is paramount.

Compiling detailed invoices for all private patients treated at Salisbury District Foundation Trust, liaising with insurance companies on a daily basis.

Working hand in hand with our private hospital Capio Newhall, Bodenham and invoicing for all trays, loan equipment and high cost consumables loaned from Salisbury District Hospital-liaising closely with the Finance Department at SDFT.

Provision of detailed and complex end of month loan spreadsheets for the Finance Department relating to loans from SDFT to New Hall Hospital.

Completion of Out Patient letters for a weekly Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic for patients who have complex health issues that may impact on proposed surgery. The aim of the Clinic is to optimise the patient to prevent post-operative complications and possible on the day cancellations.

Managing my own diary together with organisation of monthly meetings for Lead & Deputy Lead Clinicians for Anaesthetics

Attendance at meetings when required for minute/ note taking.







Employed by Salisbury District Foundation Trust since October 2003 to date.

Initially employed as a Senior Health Care Support worker in Main Theatres  (following history of employment within the care industry-both in the private and public sectors)


Interaction with patients on a one to one basis prior to surgery, including circulating as part of a highly professional multi-disciplined operating team within a Main Theatre Department consisting of eight theatres during operative procedures. Completing comprehensive documentation and preparation of the theatre for all subsequent procedures



Remaining within the Trust and continuing  within Theatres I moved onto the Administration Team full time.

Dealing with the day-to-day activity of an extremely busy department. Being the first point of call for all visitors and patients “meeting & greeting”

Inputting comprehensive information from Theatre Data forms onto the bespoke hospital computer system.

Compiling data and spreadsheets and liaising with numerous departments around the hospital.

Answering all telephone calls and other general office duties on a day-to-day basis.

Communicating with sales representatives on a daily basis.

A natural progression and a desire to learn more led me to my current role.


1993-1998  Allenbrook Nursing Home – Full time carer, undertaking all duties of personal care and emotional well-being  for residents.


1998-2003 Private Carer for Lady Elizabeth Rugg –providing all duties of personal care, managing day to day finances.
