This position involved me working with relevant government funded agencies to secure funding for specific groups of students. I monitored and helped to manage a contract in excess of £600,000 annually.  In this role i had to assist in the preparation of tenders, maintain tracking systems using excel, use a variety of online programmes, worked with external agencies, worked with staff at all levels.  I also organised meetings, prepared agendas and took minutes.

This was my most challenging role in the college.  I sourced funding and agreedtraining plans for in excess of 400 work based apprentices across a variety of disciplines from Hairdressing to Marine Engineering, meaning i managed a contract with a value in excess of £650,000. This role  involved me preparing tenders, completing financial forecasts and setting targets, ensuring targets are met by working with staff at all levels, identifying weaknesses in the systems and working with management to resolve these, maintaining a tracking system, and processing quotes and orders.  I had line management responsibility for two members of staff, and I ensured that the office was running smoothly with all tasks completed to a high standard and on time.  I organised and chaired meetings with senior management, as well as preparing comprehensive reports for them.

Following the merger of the college to become Nesol, my my post was relocated to Aberdeen and at that time commuting was not an option, so I secured a role in the prison as the learning assistant.  This role meant I was data processor and controller for the Learning Centre in the prison, and I also assessed every prisoner’sliteracy & numeracy levels in the prison.  Again, I had a huge variety of tasks using numerous skills and I gained a lot of experience here in conflict management and problem solving.  I also operated PR2 the prisons MIS system and created monthly reports, was a budget holder and had meetings with staff at all levels across the prison representing the learning centre

I was fortunate to gain employment in the surgery after applying as I felt it was more in my skillset.  My job here is very varied, very fast paced and involves multi-tasking a lot.  I add diaries and appointment templates, answer phones, take a shift at the desk, deal with queries on a daily basis, liaise with hospitals and a huge variety of external agencies, deal with discharge paperwork, prepare notes and create reports, check medication and print prescriptions, along with a huge number of other tasks such as operating computer. Working as a team and also working on my own ensuring all the deadlines are met.
